For my sisters birthday I created a campfire / marshmallow roast cake. Camping and eating marshmallows are two of her very favorite things. I had the dilemma in front of me that I had to create a cake to serve 50 people, the party was off site, not at a home and had to be transported by car for a 45 minute drive. So while it isn’t as pretty I made a sheet cake and just left the cake in the pan to decorate and this worked out really well. This cake was a lot of fun to make. I created the fire logs and roasting twigs out of brown fondant and cut them on my Cricut Cake. I piped on the orange flames (butter cream frosting) and then cut mini-marshmallows in half and attached them on top of the branches with a little bit of butter cream frosting. I won’t revel her age but this isn’t the first nor the last time that we’ll but a 2 candle and a 9 candle on her cake.

Need some quick simple art in your home? Or do you just feel like playing a bit?  I recently took on a little home decor project and by little I do mean mini. I used the Cricut, the Heritage cartridge, and some hot orange vinyl to make mini works of art on canvas. The Cricut cuts vinyl like butter. I played around with the different shapes and with scale until I was happy with the look and the combination. I also used colored masking tape and Sharpie markers to add to the pieces. Shopping around in a thrift store recently I found this great little frame and knew it had potential for a redo! I used the Provo Craft Cindy Loo Cartridge to cute up this little picture frame.  I used purple, grey and teal vinyl to cut different images on the Cricut. I used left over vinyl pieces to cut the grass and bird house hanger, by hand. I also cut apart the doily into pieces to create something truly my own! I like to mess with the designs a bit to put my own spin on them! You can make this project with any of the cartridges and any color combination of vinyl. For your best bet choose a glass or plastic frame – the vinyl will stick best to those surfaces. Click here for the Vinyl Picture Frame How To.  Have fun with it and happy crafting!  xoxo

With the kids starting back to school you can finally catch up on that stack of Summer reading you thought you would get to. That means take some time to hand craft yourself a lovely bookmark to tuck into the stack of books. I made this one for the Creative Escape SWAPs that happened in Chandler, AZ over the weekend. I used Bazzill Basics Paper in White, Raven Black and Navajo Blue. For the embossing I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder called Typeset. For the Chair I used the Cricut Heritage Cartridge. Then I Razzel Dazzeled it up by gluing on a black button at the bottom and attaching three black hot rocks with my irock to the chair. For the step by step click here: Paper Bookmark How To

It is back to school time and that means personalizing your goods. Boring is out and adding the handmade touch is in. For my personalization I choose to YUDU a hot pink blank laptop bag. I used the old school typewriter from the Heritage cartridge and printed it twice on the bag. I also used a charm label from the Heritage cartridge to screen print a little extra bling on a chain.
