It’s coming up on Independence Day and that means this crafting girl needs something red, white and blue to wear. I used the cartridge Just a Note embedded in the Cricut expression 2: 5th Anniversary Edition to cut pin wheels out of while shrink plastic, colored them red and blue with Sharpie markers. I used a hole punch to make a hole in the centers and shrunk them. I also create circles and gears in this same fashion. I used T-Shirt yarn, braided and knotted to make the “chain” part of the necklace.
Happy 4th of July!

For this month’s new Hello Thursday cartridge Ornamental Iron 2 I created a Southwest style mirror.
I started with a 12 inch wooden hoop and covered it with heavy orange upholstery fabric and then glued a round mirror in the center with E-6000. Using the Ornamental Iron 2 cartridge I cut the Southwest looking design out of aqua card stock and attached it to the fabric using permanent spray mount. To finish it off I attached Imaginisce Hot Rocks.

This month I grabbed the new Country Fair Cartridge and took a liking to the rooster weather vain. I thought it would make a cute country sign. I used a piece of corrugated metal for the background and I cut the rooster out of a red and white printed sticker vinyl and solid red sticker vinyl. I am giving this to my sister for her cute store The Cactus Corner.

My family has a tradition of a “Learning Pillow-Case” that I am continuing with the girls. The idea is to work on learning something and when the lesson is fully learned you get to reach into the Learning Pillow-Case and select a prize. This Summer the short one is learning her ABC’s. So I created a pillow-case that says LEARN and ABC cut out of backed fabric using the Recess cartridge. Oh what fun we are having!

I love the new Sweet Shop cartridge for the Cricut. I used it to cut wool felt shapes of sweet treats and created them into lapel pins. Such a fun way to say I heart sweets!
