For week two of summer camp at home we had Science and Exploration week. Here are a few images from our activities. Our Field Trip was to the Arizona Science Center.
Each week has a different theme filled with activities, crafts, food and field trips related to the theme: Here is Week One.
This summer we are having summer camp at home. Each week has a different theme filled with activities, crafts, food and field trips related to the theme. This past week was Week One and it offered a theme of Circus and Carnival. Here are a few images from our week. Our Field Trip was to a permanent carnival here in Phoenix called the Enchanted Island built in the 1940’s.
We love the C.S.A (Community Supported Agriculture) that we are a part of — it is called Chow Locally. This is a dish, about to be roasted on the grill that I made from a recent ‘share’. It is Fennel, Candy Striped Beets and Korabi which is kind of like a turnip. It was drizzled with Dijon Mustard and Balsamic Vinegar and sprinkled with salt and pepper. Delicious!
I had these little wooden churches rolling around in a box for the last few years, waiting to become a part of something and it finally hit me. I used Tulip® Fashion Graffiti Cannon Fabric Paint in Neon Pink because I love the glow it gives to anything you use it on. I painted each of the houses then cut paper to serve as the roof lines or eves of the houses. I painted a wooden lid green and little picket fences white. The bunny is a vintage cake decoration I had on hand and the ‘eggs’ are candy jelly beans.
I was inspired by Martha Stewart’s Bell Jar Keepsake and I thought I would use it as a model to create an Easter bell jar decor project to display. This turned out so well I think it is safe to say it will be up all spring. I have had the bell jar around for year. The nest, plastic eggs, bird and butterfly all came from various craft stores. I also used a Tulip ® Fashion Graffiti Big Phat Fabric Marker to color the bird and the butterfly florescent pink, where they were white before.
