I LOVE the newest Imagine Cartridge called Notebook Doodles. Oh what fun I had.  I took an old pair of shoes, used white Gesso to cover them, allowed that to dry. I printed the little character designs onto iron on transfer paper. I then cut up the iron on paper and transferred it on to yellow cotton fabric and attached these patches to the shoe with glue. I then used Ranger Enamel Assents in black to outline the patches.

I have been going snow globe crazy this year! I have made several of them and there are more lined up awaiting my attention. I picked up all of the globes at thrift stores and glued them to bases also found at thrift stores. Some of them are ball canning jars. This whole idea was inspired by Anthroplogie check it out HERE, All the little goodies inside came from craft stores, dollar stores and cake decorating stores that I then painted white with craft paint. Love Love Love!

I married the idea of affordable art with Thanksgiving. A few weeks ago when I created this Fall wreath I over printed onto the canvas with the YUDU screen I had prepared using the Simply Scarecrow Cartridge. I cut the leaves out that were in good shape and then with the rest of the canvas I tore it into strips and set it aside. So always save those scraps you can put them to good use later.

I used an inexpensive canvas that I picked up at the craft supply store as the base. I first painted it red with acrylic paint, then I used painters tape to tape off lines and I spray painted orange over top of that, once dry I peeled the tape off. Next I wrapped the painted canvas with the printed, torn strips and stapled them to the back. To hold them down I coated the piece with shellac. Once the canvas was dry, I glued the leaves down down to the surface. Finally, I used the Autumn Celebrations Cartridge and cut the word “thankful” out of gold vinyl and attached that to the piece. Now I have a fun, affordable piece of art for Thanksgiving.

I picked this plain gourd up last year at a day after Christmas sale at Pottery Barn. I have had it rolling around my studio since then and finally the inspiration came to me for how I wanted to paint it. I went to the Tim Burton show at LACMA this summer and was so inspired by his imagination and characters. Thanks to my friends Jill and Scott for taking us. I channeled Tim Burton for this wonky little guy that now inhabits my dried gourd.
