This past weekend was the Splendid event at SMoCA and Scottsdale Fashion Square. Both events were totally amazing – with packed houses and happy people. Friday night at SMoCA was like a beading love-in and Saturday at Fashion Square was a family crafting day filled with making and milk & cookies. What a ball! Ready to do it again!! Thank you Fuse for the drinks and all the amazing staff who took it on and made it all happen – thanks! Crafting Community and Kid Concierge crew – big, big air hearts!
Here are some pics from the weekend – Enjoy!
It’s coming up on Independence Day and that means this crafting girl needs something red, white and blue to wear. I used the cartridge Just a Note embedded in the Cricut expression 2: 5th Anniversary Edition to cut pin wheels out of while shrink plastic, colored them red and blue with Sharpie markers. I used a hole punch to make a hole in the centers and shrunk them. I also create circles and gears in this same fashion. I used T-Shirt yarn, braided and knotted to make the “chain” part of the necklace.
Happy 4th of July!

I have been playing with porcelain a lot lately — more of that to come. For this Halloween inspired necklace I made a ball of porcelain and then pressed it into a Cuttlebug Halloween embossing folder. I bisqued it to cone 06 and then glazed it with black glaze from Duncan. I covered a necklace finding in black enamel paint and then glued it to the back using E-6000 glue. I made the necklace part out of what else? Tee-shirt yarn!

I was so inspired after making a tee-shirt yarn wreath that I thought why not make one for Halloween?
Here’s how: I bought a wreath from at the dollar store. The first step is to cover it with black masking tape, Next wrap black cheese cloth around it, pulling at the strings, allowing them to hang off for a spooky effect. Next I made three tee-shirt yarn flowers using black tee-shirt yarn. I attached those flowers to a backing of grey felt and glued them down to the wreath. I topped the flowers by putting copper and black hot rocks on them. For the final step I took three colors of tee-shirt yarn, braided them together and made the top hanging piece for the wreath.
