Up-Cycle T-Shirt Workshop

This workshop will offer up-cycle projects for used t-shirts. Each participant will be invited to bring in worn-out, old, stained, used t-shirts to create personalized projects. Join the fun at The City of Glendale at Westgate Summer Camp for hands-on instruction, supplies included (bring a tee-shirt to create personalized projects)

Have a t-shirt at home that you are ready to toss? Hold onto it for this workshop. Participants will learn how to cut apart used, worn-out, stained or just plane old t-shirts and turn them into all kids of projects including animals, aprons, electronic carrying cases, tote bags, wearable art, yarn and more. Note: The yarn will be transformed into accessory to wear and for room décor. Items will be hand sewn, glued or ironed together.

Each participant will leave with handmade art created out of t-shirts and instructions to continue the creative fun at home. So the good times don’t have to end when the workshop does!

This past weekend I lead a workshop at SMoCA for teens at the Night At The Museum Event. It was such a good time!

I used rubber stamps of mason jars, stamped them onto paper, scanned them into the computer, cleaned them up and blew the scale up to a larger size. Then I printed the graphic jars onto white card stock. I had the participants cut the jars out and glue them on three sides down to a colored card stock, leaving the top open so a paper note could be tucked in. Then they decorated each of their jars. They made some amazing projects! Here are the sample I created. I will post theirs into another post soon.

The weekend before Christmas I did a workshop with Free Arts tween and teen girls. We worked with the ideal of visual art memory journals. Because it is time to think about New Year’s Crafts, Journals and logging events and activities. What will you keep note of, of this past year?  I created a book with the New Year in mind. I will use this as a journaling book for the next few weeks as I write and doodle about 2011.

I used my Cuttlebug and the Clockworks Embossing Folders to pull the details of this journaling book together. Once it is complete I will bind it on my YourStory. Here’s to the New Year.

Happy crafting xoxo
